What is the BEDC Business Awards?

Join us as we celebrate the achievements, growth & resilience of Bermudas entrepreneurs. This event will feature Local businesses that have been nominated by the public in recognition of their success within the last year. We will also celebrate those entrepreneurs that have dedicated themselves to personal growth & learning by completing one of bedc’s educational courses. In additional to the awards, you can expect great entertainment, live cooking classes (ingredients included), and must have swag!

The event highlights the Entrepreneur of the Year, Business of the Year, Most Enterprising Young Entrepreneur, Vendor of the Year,  the COVID Resiliency Award, and the BEDC Client of the year. Members of the public are asked to nominate a business of their choice in recognition of their great service, superior product, hard work, and growth.

BEDC Business Awards Criteria

**Nomination Deadline – October 30th at 5pm**

Please note that all nominees must be Bermudian or a Bermuda-owned business in good standing with their Government Obligations (Payroll Tax, Social Insurance, Pension Plan, & Health Insurance). Please read through the criteria thoroughly as nominations that do not match the outlined criteria would not be accepted.

Entrepreneur of The Year

  • Innovative, Visionary and Disrupter
  • Excellent Customer Service
  • Committed to hiring developing of local Bermudian talent
  • No unresolved complaints (Consumer Affairs)
  • Social Responsibility (Community Involvement)

Most Enterprising Young Entrepreneur (Selected nominees in this category will be contacted to arrange an online interview).

  • Between the ages of 14 and 25
  • Creative Business Idea
  • Sound Business Model
  • Demonstrate entrepreneurial potential necessary for long term success
  • Excellent Customer Service

New Startup of the Year

  • Launched and opened after September 1st, 2019
  • Innovative/Creative product or service
  • Proven Track Record for growth
  • Number of new jobs to the Bermuda Market
  • Has majority of Bermudian Employees

People’s Choice This category will be operated by a voting poll.

  • Broad appeal and impact of business
  • Innovative Product or Service
  • Excellent Customer Service
  • Has a majority of Bermudian employees
  • No unresolved complaints (Consumer Affairs)
  • Social Responsibility (Community Involvement)

Vendor of the Year

  • Operating as a vendor selling from a stall and place to place
  • Focuses on Bermuda-made or Bermuda -inspired product/ service
  • Excellent Customer Service
  • Quality Merchandising/ Packaging
  • No unresolved complaints (Consumer Affairs)
  • Social Responsibility (Community Involvement)

Business of the Year

  • In existence for at least 3 years
  • Example of growth and sustainability over time
  • Staple in the community
  • Excellent Customer Service
  • Has a majority of Bermudian employees
  • No unresolved complaints (Consumer Affairs)
  • Social Responsibility (Community Involvement)

Family Business of the Year

  • Involvement of at least 2 generations in the business
  • In existence for at least 3 years
  • Business name synonymous with family name
  • Has a majority of Bermudian employees
  • Excellent Customer Service
  • No unresolved complaints (Consumer Affairs)
  • Social Responsibility (Community Involvement)

COVID Resiliency Award

  • Rehired Staff during the pandemic
  • Shifted business model as a result of COVID 19
  • Excellent Customer Service
  • No unresolved complaints (Consumer Affairs)
