Our Keynote Speakers
We’re proud to introduce our special guests who will speaking with you this November.
Gayle (Gay-lä) Jennings-O’Byrne is a tech investor, entrepreneur and former finance executive. She helps companies scale and grow and has experience buying and selling companies. She is working to deploy capital into a segment of the startup sector that has proven to outperform yet is undercapitalized — women of color entrepreneurs (aka WOCstars).
She brings 20+ years experience and involvement in the women of color tech ecosystem to the co-founding of the WOCstar Fund, an early stage tech venture fund. Prior roles include investment banking, philanthropy, lobbying and marketing at JPMorgan Chase and Sun Microsystems. Industry expertise gained in those roles includes big data, media, edutech and fintech.
Skills include mergers and acquisitions, due diligence, valuation, and contract negotiations. Deals include Lions Gate, Artisan Entertainment, Lucent Technology, Stratus Technology, and Grupo EDC. She has been an active investor over the years, which started with the opportunity to learn via a co-investment opportunity with JPMorgan’s private equity. Her early investments include Athena, BeWell Health, Bloc, Elu (Private Sale), and Zeek & Poppy.
In addition to investing, she trains and coaches entrepreneurs. One platform for her community is a podcast she hosts called ” VCs off the Record”. It has recently formed a partnership with WE.NYC, NYC Small Business Services for a special podcast series for NY startups impacted by COVID-19.
